I don't talk about Pretty Little Liars a lot on the blog. One reason is that the story is so encompassing that if you aren't watching it you are going to be missing out on something. Another thing is that I am trying to do better about spoilers on my site. However, Having watched up until Episode 14, at midnight on a day off was a terrible idea, because now I have so many thoughts and theories floating around in my head that have to be dumped somewhere.
I understand if this isn't your type of post, but I literally am going to burst, so here goes nothing. I think its pretty safe to say that this post will have certain spoilers, if you are not caught up to episode 14 please do not read past this line.

I think the biggest thing about this season can be split in half. The girls now have a full working knowledge of who is running the game. They don't know who A. D. is, but they do know that Jenna and Sydney are integral parts of this operation. Things that have me going crazy right know can be broken down in three simple things.

1. I was really surprised that they brought back the stolen eggs from emily. One how dare you steal something not only that doesn't belong to you, but could have the ability to become a human being in the future? Secondly, A has gone from harmless pranks, to Charlotte, with damaged limbs, to murder of and with A.D. This is a huge jump in victimology, but lets think about the ramifications of a story line like this with the poor excuse of healthcare that T*#$& is trying to pass right now? Alison didn't want a child. Now she has one, growing inside her. She was NOT part of this procedure decision at all.
Do you know what that means? Rape. It means that Alison was Violated, and in a way so was Emily. It was Emily's decision to give up her eggs yes, but that was when she was going to give them to some couple in need, not for A.D.'s Twisted game of god. I really want them to get to the end of this and to stop A.D. because they have gone from this nameless character that creates strife for the girls to a Rapist that needs to be stopped.

2. The Death of Yvonne. One thing Pretty Little Liars has always had a problem with was inclusivity. Yes they cover a part of the LGBT community. With Charles becoming Charlotte, and Emily 's Lesbian relationship with Paige. However, they never seem to keep more than one POC around at a time. Before Yvonne there was the first girl Emily was with, Mya. She was later killed off by her ex boyfriend/stalker (Also a trope.) The fact that Yvonne was brought into the story as an adversary for Spencer was a HUGE turn off for me. Spencer being one of my favorite characters was more than capable fighting with A, she didn't need another enemy, she needed an ally.
The way that they brought Yvonne back from her fight with death and her medically induced coma, only to have an incredibly happy moment with Toby, Marry him and then kill her off. Is in a word, decisive. She had an incredibly low amount of screentime for any other character listed, and at the moment you think they are going to triumph over this unforseen adversity she kicks the bucket? Rude and uncouth.

3. It seems Jessica DiLaurentis kept immaculate records on all of the girls. However, Aria's file was missing. This begs the question, did A.D. see her as weak and desparate from the start? Or did something change as the story progressed? Also, Why Aria? In all 7 seasons before she seemed to be the tiny but fierce glue that kept the crew together. Why all of a sudden, would she be willinig to risk her relationship with her friends, for a slight taste of freedom.
We're in Season 8, we all know that A, Charlotte, A.D. don't negotiate. They want you to play by their rules, or you don't play. So why are they suddenly so leniant on little Aria? Also, the fact that they keep bring Nicole back at inopportune moments speaks to me on a level that I can't quite decipher now but believe me I am working on it.
Since Aria is now a Full adult, would Ezra's tryst/relationship with her even matter at this point? He's no longer teaching. He's no longer attached to that school in any capacity. Aria is no longer a minor. Would it have any baring on the future events?

These three random events have proven that the writers of Pretty Little Liars are definitely driving toward Endgame, and that is a level that the girls just are NOT ready to play yet. They have taken something that is being orchestrated by a single unknown entity and turned it into a watered down version of Saw. A.D. is serious about seeing the girls burn, you know that saying about some men right?

It's been like 3 weeks since my last youtube video. I am the worst, Burr. I just have to chalk all this up to my crazy 2nd job taking up all of my free time. Luckily, there is only one more shift and then I will be free for 3 whole months! I won't know what to do with the free time. I plan on using it exclusively to work on my content.

I know it's been a while since you've seen one of these posts. I would really like to do more of them, but I only really craft, when I'm cosplaying or closer to Halloween. I don't craft for others, more myself, and I'm trying to be better about buying/making things that I don't use. I'm trying to cut down the clutter, as they say.
For C2E2, I wanted to be Alolan Vulpix, the ice fox. If you've read my master post, you'll know what happened to the original ears, In my haste to make sure my costume didn't ABSOLUTELY fall apart, I created these ears on the fly on the drive to the convention center. With the super easy instructions below, you'll be able to create them too.

Materials:

1 page of White Felt

1 page of Blue felt (As close to ocean blue as possible.)

Super glue, or Hot glue.

Scissors

bobby Pins or hair pins

Step 1: Create two triangles with concaved bottoms from the white felt. I like to make two, hold them on top and cut out another two so they are all the same shape. Make them a bit bigger than you'd like so you can cut them down if need be.

Step 2: Cut 2 smaller triangles from the blue felt, make these a bit smaller so they fit inside the white triangles. Place both on top of each other and cut three small waves at the bottom. So the white felt can show through.

Step 3: Wherever you cut your triangles from, cut the excess felt that is left into small strips. You will use this to stuff your ears, so nothing is wasted.

Step 4: Line up all of your triangles. Make sure they look even and the way you want them to be. Once they are perfect, a few drops of super glue on the top and sides will keep your ears together. Once the glue is dry on the sides you will glue the blue triangles to the white. Once that is dry, feel free to use the scrap felt to stuff your ears!

Step 5: Once they are stuffed to your liking, hot glue the bottoms closed.

Step 6: Attach one-half of the bobby pin to the front of the ear, and slide the bottom into your hair, so the ear will stand up properly. You may need more than one bobby pin, depending on how thick your hair is, and how stuffed your ears are. I use at least 3 pins per ear.

Step 7: Model your ears, love your ears and be your cute, nerdy self!

If you guys decide to do this D.I.Y. PLEASE hashtag it, #NerdetteVulpix, so I can see it on Instagram and Twitter!!!

I have finally gotten over my post-convention depression and now have the ability to tell you all about the shenanigans that were c2e2 this year. Just a heads up that this post will be open, candid and absolutely chock full of pictures. Let's just dive right in, because this one is a doozy.
Even though I requested the time off in advance, I wasn't able to get it. This proved stressful, as I worked the morning of the day I was leaving for the convention. It also meant that I worked almost doubles all week, and that left no time for costuming OR packing. Even though, I knew the week was ending in something that I had waited almost half a year for, I was still very stressed out.

By the time that my costume was finished and I was packed, Alex and I left about 7 p.m. It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive to Chicago. Luckily, I had enough forethought to reserve a hotel room, super close to the convention center. However, I didn't have enough to think hey, there might not be parking. So, after arriving after midnight, and circling the surrounding blocks for 15 minutes, just to find a place to park the car and actually go get checked in, let alone to park it for the night, we decided that it might be time to find another hotel with parking attached, even if it was a little further from the convention center. Thank goodness for sites like Expedia and Travelocity.

It only took 5 minutes to find a proper hotel room, and it was only 20 minutes from the convention. It even came with a refrigerator and a microwave, which was glorious because we packed our own food, and saved money that way. One of the things that suck about Chicago, is that there are quite a few tolls. When we went to C2E2 the very first time 2015, we were hit with toll back to back to back. The 2nd year was bad but not as bad. This year, we didn't come across a toll until we were leaving to drive back to Ohio. One thing I will definitely do next year would be to find a toll-less set of directions.
I'm not sure what's been going on with me lately, but I have been absolutely craving Wendy's Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich. I was in Chicago for two days and I ate 6 that weekend. One thing I noticed was that Chicago's Filet was WAY spicier than the ones in Ohio. I'm not sure if it is just me, but I definitely noticed a higher kick. We only ate out once, at Giordano's because Alex is all about his deep dish pizza. However, our experience wasn't great. Although our server was very personable, she brought us the wrong pizza, forgot our appetizer, brought one refill for the 45 minutes to the hour that we were there. Of course, we were discounted accordingly, but as a fan of regular pizza, and LIGHT sauce, deep dish pizza just wasn't for me.

I still needed three things so we stopped at a Walmart to pick up what I needed. When I say that I didn't have time to pack I really didn't. I actually left my Captain America makeup bag at home, which proved a terrible idea, because I had to buy eyeshadow and a brush for my costume, which I'm 90% sure I already owned. The biggest thing that happened, was in the rush to get out of the hotel room and begin our journey to the convention center, I kind of just grabbed everything that I needed and gathered it up into my arms, instead of putting it in a bag, and between the hotel and the parking lot at Walmart, I lost my homemade ears. I'm not going to front, those ears and the tail were the most work, with all the stress of the week, I was still able to get those done and to lose basically the defining piece to the costume 20 minutes from the convention? I cried. I was really pissed off at myself for not being responsible, that plus the stress of the week caused me to have a little breakdown. Once I calmed down, I realized" DUH!" I'm in the parking lot of a Walmart, I'll just go get felt and make some more. Vulpix ears 2.0 looked a lot better anyway.
One thing that I regret about this trip is how big I made my tail, and how I attached it to my costume. My tail came up from my tailbone and curved up to my shoulders, it also came out in a curved triangle on each side. We attended Saturday and Sunday, and which Saturday being the busiest means that all Saturday I felt like a hockey puck/player being body checked left and right, or being caught on someone else's costume and being carried away like Princess Peach in a Mario game. Thankfully, Alex and I have a system of staying together in groups, I keep a finger hooked onto his t-shirt, as soon as it feels lighter he turns around to find me stopped at a table nearby or like Saturday, waving my hands wildly as I am being dragged by the person or the current. I hope you laughed as much as I did writing this because while it was occurring, I definitely cried.
I don't regret my purchases during C2E2 but I definitely spent outside of my general convention budget. I generally budget $300 to shop per convention, not counting the necessities. Ticket, Hotel, Food, Gas and not included in my $300. I probably spent about $500 this trip. I know, both I and my wallet are weeping. I have a full vlog about everything I bought so you can see just how much of a crazy person I became, but I have made a conscious effort, to stick to my budget for the rest of my life, as recompense.
I brought 5 Comics with me to be signed. Lil' Gotham by Dustin Nguyen, Faith by Jody Houser, Hellcat by Kate Leth, Batgirl and Birds of Prey by the Benson Sisters, and The Wicked and The Divine by Gillen and McKelvie. I got 4 our of 5 signed, the line for WicDiv was so long, that it wrapped around the sectioned off Artists Alley. I had too many things to accomplish to wait in line for that long.
Meeting the Benson sisters was the best. They are so cute, sweet and really interested in what people thought about their comic. They were definitely the highlight of my trip. They just reminded me of those friends, that are like moms on the go, the ones that make sure you are eating healthy and that your relationship with your boyfriend is going well. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them. I hope I get to meet them again at some point.
Meeting Jen Bartel was a high point as well. She's so sweet and quiet. Her art was so beautiful, I bought all the things. I also stopped by the Tokyopop booth, even though I haven't read manga in a while, they actually had a mangaka there, Sophia Chan, and I couldn't resist getting her novel, getting it signed and got a picture with her. I knew there were a lot of content creators there, but I literally didn't come across ANYONE. I tried to take pictures with every Pokemon cosplayer I could find.

There was a group of Squirtle Squad but they were always surrounded so I didn't bother. Alex cosplayed as Ash and got accolades. I was happy for him, but I can't lie, I was pretty disappointed that literally no one asked me what I was, or complimented my costume. I don't even think the Pokemon cosplayers I took pictures knew what I was supposed to be. I've decided that I will only cosplay at small conventions, or on smaller days because Saturday was ridiculously stressful for me. I haven't been that stressed since I was a college student, it definitely wasn't a feeling I missed.

There was a booth selling movie posters and of course I couldn't resist. I spent most of my money there. I got a 66' Batman, Little Mermaid, Original Halloween, Original Friday The 13th, Original Fright Night, Original House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price, Scream, Aristocats, Alice in Wonderland and Kiki's Delivery Service completely in Japanese. I've already hung up all the posters, and it definitely makes the living room feel more lived in.

I can't believe that it's already May. 2017 is zooming by and the summer is right around the corner. If you've been reading Nerdette At Large for a while, you'll know that I love summer. It's my favorite season, but it is also a completely free 2 months from my Main source of income.
It allows me to catch up on sleep, create content in advance for Nerdette At Large, my youtube; Nerdette Minute, side hustles, hang out with friends and family, who have summers off from school. I will be off early this year, and it's about two weeks away and I'm literally biting at the bit to be free.

Here are a few of the things that I loved in the crazy busy month of April.

- First Cosplay of the Year. Every year, I take the time to attend C2E2, and even though this was my 3rd year, it was my very first year creating a cosplay. I decided to be the Alolan Vulpix, and I chose the ABSOLUTE worst day to wear the full costume including the gigantic fox/squirrel I created. I can compare it to being a hockey player for a day, and being body checked left and right. I had a blast being in costume though, I totally see why cosplayers make one every convention, and every day.

- Getting my 4th Tattoo. I talk about it quite a bit, but I have a list of tattoos that I would like to get done in my lifetime. I'm not saying that I want to be covered from head to toe, but there is definitely a decent amount I'd like to acquire. I went into Artis Inks, the day before Easter and got my much awaited Edgar Alan Poe tattoo. As a ginormous fan of Poes work, there are two things that I want in my life to represent him. This tattoo, and this plushie by Killing me softly.

- Discovering the Financial Diet. The Financial Diet is a Youtube Channel and A Blog by Chelsea and Lauren and they teach millennials and others about money. Proper ways to save money. How to create a side hustle. How to negotiate your salary for your new job. All the things I should have been learning in college, instead of having religious zealot teachers tell me that my sexuality and experiences as a bi black woman didn't matter. They are amazing!

- Adding to my Plushie and Figurine Collection. I got a Mimikyu Plushie (pokemon) at C2E2, an orange peep from Walmart, and a Sailor Uranus figurine from Barnes and Noble.

- Photographing my 1st Easter Shoot. If you've been reading the blog for a while, you'll know that my profession is a school day photographer and that I do photography (of all kinds) on the side, as Checkmate Photo. If you are interested, check out my portfolio. I had the wonderful opportunity to follow up Robin's Maternity Photos with an Easter shoot for Q. He's the cutest baby ever, and was crazy easy to work with. No fretting, no huffing, and no crying.

My cousin Brianna turned 23 on the 17th, so I took her out on a shopping spree to celebrate. It was a blast. We had brunch at First Watch. Did you guys know they had shrimp? I didn't, so when I saw that they did, of course, I had to get a side of it to go with my potato and sausage skillet. I know that First Watch is supposed to be a healthier establishment, but I just wasn't feeling it.

We explored Barnes and Noble first, it had been a while since I stopped in, and I'm really glad we decided to visit the one that we did. I didn't get any books, but I did get a Sailor Uranus Figurine! There's never Haruka stuff, so when I saw it, I knew I automatically had to get it. I carried her around in the basket the whole time we were there, and then when it was time to leave, I was like, yeeah, she's coming home with me.
I'm not sure where this surge came from, but I saw these "from the villain" point of view Disney Novels. There was an evil queen one, Ursula and the Beast. I never really thought of the beast as a bad guy though.. I mean Ursula is one of my favorite villains, but she had her reasons... The evil queen, is simply an evil queen. I don't think she needed a novel for that, they definitely could have done one for Jafar or Melificent instead.
We then decided to go check out a used bookstore called Wall of Books. The best decision EVER! It was full of Wall to wall bookshelves, on every topic imaginable and new books being dropped off every day. Their rewards program was pretty boss too, it was like 25% off books, and if you buy a book from them, read it and bring it back, then it was like 50% off your next book. You should have seen our eyes, we looked like owls.
I've been wanting to read The Anita Blake series, by Laurell K. Hamilton for the longest time. The very beginnings of her series, are pretty hard to find. The ones that I have come across, especially on kindle platforms are like $30 per book. I'm not trying to knock anyone's writing ability but.... C'mon! That's crazy! Luckily, Wall of Books had 1-4 so I bought them, and they were only 2 a piece, sure they're pretty worn, but their books, that's the point. It just means they are a good read.

Now that I'm back from C2E2, and have recovered from post con depression I can tell you all about my latest tattoo! The last time I had gotten a tattoo was in January so the beginning of the year, and for the last month and a half I had been itching for another tattoo off of my list. Ever since getting Victini on my right shoulder, I've been itching for more and more ink. I know they say that you always want more tattoos once you start, and for me it may be true.

Easter Weekend, I walked into my fave shop, Artis Inks, and sat down for my appointment. This tattoo is the biggest one. By like 8 times. At first I was pretty nervous about getting it done, but now that it's here, I am so in love with it. Especially when I take outstretched selfies, because you can see the whole thing in my picture. The tattoo is a quote by Elalusz, "Our hearts are Monsters, it's why our ribs are cages" and then for Edgar Alan Poe, I got a raven with a red eye, reading a book. So technically it's two tattoos in one, which makes me feel a little bit better about how ginormous it is.

Alex went with me and took lots of pictures of me, the artist, the work and the shop so I thought I would show you guys. I've had it since the 15th and I am already ready for yet another one off my list, I'm thinking it's going to be either my Vulcan Quote, Star Trek Insignia, or my Mini Detective Pikachu. Still batting around ideas, I just know that I'm ready for more.

I am so excited to be typing up this post right now. Alex and I have been in the new house since December. We've been working so hard trying to get settled in and things unboxed and trust me it has been a journey. One room I've been wanting to have perfect since I stepped foot in the new house, was my office. At the last house, I didn't really have a space just for me that I could brainstorm and create content in. The last house stifled my creativity, it was just too small.

Now we actually have a house that we can grow in, and we're so excited we don't even know what to do about it. We've made a stop at Ikea, grabbed a cart (myself) a desk (Alex) and a turquoise blue 3 drawer dresser for the living room (ahem, me). We're going to split the Living room in half, as it is the largest room in the house, other than the basement, and that will be Alex's creative space.

I've gotten my office organized ALMOST exactly how I want it. I'm just missing a couple of things. 1. I want to gather quite a few bookshelves, two more on one wall, so I can put up my figurines and such on display and then a large one to go into the alcove by the closet for all of my books.

2. I definitely want to get more shelving for my figurines and books. I wish I had a few smaller prints so I could cover more wall space. I'd love to get some prints from Frannerd, Jaqueline Deleon and MaisDue and put them up on my wall, they are three artists that I have been loving for a while now and I would love to display some of their inspirational work in my studio.

3. Get a wireless keyboard, to control the television from the other side of the room, instead of having to get up to switch episodes, movies etc.
I originally wanted to get a chaise, or love seat for the other side of the room, so I could have something comfortable other than my rolling desk chair for gaming and relaxing. I bought a mini love seat sofa for $30 but the hallway leading to my studio is so weirdly shaped, that Alex and I weren't able to get it inside. Luckily, we made a random stop at goodwill, and there was this adorable white teacup chair, with a super soft cushion, it was priced for 15, but it was 50% off everything so I wound up walking away with it for only 8 bucks! You literally can't beat it!
I'm so excited to create even more awesome youtube videos in this room, it's like double the last room I was creating in, I almost don't know what to do with all the space! Having room to move and actually create in has been great for my youtube videos if you haven't noticed. They're clearer, more precise, and looking great if I may add.
It's pretty small right now, only 30 subscribers, but I absolutely love it, and I'm hoping that posting about it here, will help it grow. I will have a video tour soon, but for now, I just couldn't resist showing you guys where I create.

Oh my goodness you guys, C2E2 this year was amazing. I managed to go Saturday and Sunday. I was in cosplay all day on Saturday, and I came to the conclusion that I will NOT cosplay anything with a tail at a big convention EVER AGAIN! I was being jostled left and right, my costume was all white, and there were so many people walking around with open glasses of beer. I don't even know how to describe it.

I spent so much you guys oh my goodness, I literally went WAY over budget. Thankfully, I already put some away in case of emergencies. I didn't need it for the convention, but rent is right around the corner and I'm definitely feeling it now. I'm going to show you all of the things I bought during the two days, including signed comics!

There will be a full post about my C2E2 shenanigans coming along, complete with photos, who I met and my entire cosplay, and a D.I.Y. on how I made my Vulpix ears.
If you guys have been reading my blog for long, you'll know that I love reading. One of my favorite places to spend my time is my local library. My county has quite a few libraries in it, so even though I've had my library card since I was 5, misspelled last name and all, there are still a few libraries that I still haven't gotten the chance to visit yet.

After watching Devotion of Suspect X, I was so inspired to read the actual book series, that on the drive home from the theater, I put the entire series on hold. Moving into our new home, put us in a different neighborhood with a new library to explore. After getting my bearings in the new place, I decided to explore and pick up my new holds.

For the first time in a while, I picked up an audio book, The Night Circus by Morgenstein, narrated by Jim Dale, who if you don't know, also did the Harry Potter Series. Not even going to front, I picked up the book based on that alone, but I'm 75% done and it's not too shabby, so I guess it was a good choice. I also picked up the entire Detective Galileo series. The books are pretty thick, so between work, getting ready for C2E2 and making sure that I'm coming up with original content for you guys and Quirktastic, hasn't left me with much time to sit down and read.

One of the things I was surprised by in the library was their fancy check out system. The last time, I used an Ohio library, they had a small scanner that you would slide your book under and that's how you did self-check out. Now, they have this little black mat, and as soon as you put your books down, they scan the pile, they can take up to 5 at a time!!! I wanted to look around and ask "What is this Witchcraft?" but no one was around to hear it.

I 'm stopping in to tell you that I will be in Chicago, Illinois all weekend. Today marks the beginning of our third year heading up to C2E2! As you may or may not know, it's my favorite convention. I spend all year saving money to go up to this convention. Costuming definitely got away from me, with the craziness of work, but I am still planning on being Ice Vulpix for the Weekend. I will be attending Saturday and Sunday. If you see me, make sure you come say hi!

Here are a few things I'm looking forward to doing this convention!

- Doing a Collaboration with Nerdily Blog!

- Getting Professional Photos done of my Ice Vulpix Cosplay. My first professional shoot too!

- Getting my entire series of Lil' Gotham signed by Dustin Nguyen.

- Meeting Svengoolie, Christina Stewart and Jen Bartel!

- Getting more art scrolls, and t-shirts.

If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know how I feel on three accounts. That I despise the Killing Joke, that I'm a huge fan of Barbara Gorden, and after this video...That Joss Whedon should go kick rocks and stay far far away from female characters in general, especially Iconic ones.

I saw on Twitter the other day, that he was in talks to direct or Produce, it wasn't too clear, a Live action Batgirl for the DCEU. I put together a video about 5 reasons why he doesn't deserve the gig. Hope you give it a watch! Don't forget to like and Subscribe!

About a week ago, Alex and I were trying to figure out how to spend our free Sunday. We'd woken up pretty early, and couldn't go back to sleep. After suggestions, that contained way too much energy such as bowling and mini golf, we decided to go see a movie. AMC Newport is one of our favorite theaters. Moveable armrests, refillable slushie machine, they show oldie's, indie's, foreign film and double features.

So after discovering that a Chinese Language film had just been released and was being shown nearby, AND it was based off a detective series, of course, I was sold. We arrived a little early, and once the movie started, there were only 5 in the theater not counting us. I'm going to go into more detail about the film in a bit, tell you what I liked and what I didn't, but let me just say this now. GO SEE IT. ABSOLUTELY GO SEE IT! After watching it, on the drive home, I put the Detective Galileo series on hold at my local library, that's how much I enjoyed the movie.

One of the biggest things I liked about this film was it's sense of logic. Pitting two Mathematicians against each other is already something that is going to interest me. Foreign mystery is also super fascinating to me, not only do they have their own logical reasoning and rules to their detections, but there are also cultural differences that can also be incredibly helpful in solving the case. I'm not saying that American mysteries are lacking, just that Foreign ones, especially Asian, seem to have a zeal that we just don't possess.
You guys know I'm a sucker for a good one-liner. Professor Chuan has a pretty good one in this. He who thinks, wins. Even though I am nowhere near a fan of mathematics, I can respect that in order to best your opponent, you'd first need to think about your options, after all, a mind in a terrible thing to waste. I absolutely loved the forward thinking that Chuan possessed, and executed throughout the film, flawlessly.

The third and last thing that had me on the edge of my seat about this film, was its twists and turns. So many things happened, that I just did not expect. I was on the edge of my seat, writing down notes, and following every clue I noticed, and even I did not see the final plot twist. The film was written beautifully, and even though I haven't read the novel yet, I have a feeling that it did it justice. The musical score was stunning, and the story pulled at my heartstrings. I'm sure I wasn't the only one tearing up in the theater.
I'm trying this new thing, where I write about film but don't post spoilers? So I'm hoping that my film posts are still something that you are interested in reading. Please let me know in the comments below. I want to provide quality content, but not everyone is a fan of spoilers, and I realized that even though I write it in the titles, that it may be scaring people away from reading it at all, so if it works for you, please make sure you let me know!

I know it's the 3rd week of April, and it seems a little late to be talking about last month favorites, but hey! Don't judge me. Here's a bunch of awesome things that I discovered during the month of March, and why!

- Crash Fever: A free downloadable game for your phone. Both Android and Apple. It's a puzzle game with no serious line of rhyme or reason. Your puzzle pieces just kind of drop from the sky and connect in weird ways that you may not always be able to replicate. They follow a color scheme, blue stops red and so forth and so on. It's very similar to Puzzles and Dragons and I AM IN LOVE!! I'm addicted. I log on and play a level every day. It's been about three full weeks and I have yet to put it down.

- Josie and The Pussycats: I found and finished the 80's cartoon. I loved it! I wanted to do a full post and video about it like the Drak Pack, but then my father told me there was a series where they were in SPACE! I'm still on the search for it, and I thought it would be a unique post.

- I was able to get out of the house a decent amount this past month. I was able to visit 5 graveyards in different parts of the state this year! Lebanon, Hillsboro, Kentucky, and even 2 in one trip!

- You'll get a full post about this on Friday, but Alex and I had the opportunity to see a brand new, just released foreign film at our local theater! We were able to see The Devotion Of Suspect X, the day it came out, a Chinese film based on the super-popular Detective Galileo series by Japanese Author, Keigo Higashino.

- I also had the opportunity to get out of the house and hang out with my very best gal pal, Layla. Even though we live in the same city and neighborhood, we're so busy that I hadn't seen her in a year and a half! So when she told me she was off some random Saturday, I know it had to be kismet! We ogled over Fanny Packs and games that I want but can't afford, because all of my money is going to C2E2.

- I decided that I would give my natural hair a break in the middle of February. I've been wearing it natural since then, and it has definitely grown like a weed! It's so long, that it touches past my shoulders when curled! I know I don't talk about hair a lot on here, but I've been struggling for a while to get to where I am and now I want the world to know~!

- I reached level 5 in Stella Glow this month! I've been playing this moveable story JRPG for a bit now, as soon as I bought it, I tore it open and got started. The biggest thing I like about this game is that it doesn't let you roam, so I can't get lost! Getting lost, and drop down attack menus are the bane of my gaming existence. So even though, I'm being guided, like a child, it's still a rather enjoyable game.

- After our 2nd trip to Ikea, I picked up this absolutely adorable Cactus Plushie. I kind of wish that it had a face honestly, but the little bug with big eyes will have to do. It's even potted!

- This month's fave definitely has to be discovering Pei The Dragon on Instagram! Her illustrations are absolutely ethereal, and you have to check them out!

I literally can not believe how fast life is zooming past me right now. It's getting hard to catch my breath. I haven't really updated you guys at all about what's been going on in my life, and what's been keeping me from updating with the general schedule of Nerdette At Large. For a while, I've been trying to keep up with a Monday, Wednesday and Friday Schedule, with a new youtube video on Thursdays.

Unfortunately, because of the stress of everything going on right now, I have had to take it down to Monday, Thursday, and Friday and even that is a bit of a stretch right now. If you didn't know I am juggling three jobs right now. A Picture Day photographer, Monday through Friday in the wee hours of the morning, I'm generally up at 4 am. A Pizza Server, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Nights, until about 11 p.m. and these are pretty much the busiest nights of the week, so I'm constantly running around.

I also contribute articles for the Geekery section of Bryanda Law's brainchild, Quirktastic Media. All of this on top of trying to create content here and on youtube for you guys. I am in love with my blog and don't worry it's not going anywhere. While I spend energy sharing my creative thoughts and ideas for others gain at the moment, I will always be interested in creating content for myself, which I would then share with you guys!

I just wanted to give you guys a little bit of an inside look of my mind when I create. I wanted to kind of apologize and acknowledge that I'm not quite up to my content creating standards right now, but all I ask is that you bear with me because I'll be back to peak creating performance shortly. So thank you so much for those that have stuck with me for so long. Also, Thank you and Welcome to anyone new that may be reading this post.

About a 5 weeks ago, I ordered some stickers from this amazing artist I found on Twitter, named Ieafy. I loved how colorful her art was and how it was lineless. When I found out that she created stickers and prints for purchase, I knew I had to grab some of her stickers. So I wound up ordering the Alolan Pokemon Set, The Electric Pokemon Set and the Chao Set from Sonic Adventure. She even included a little thank you card with even more stickers on it!
Geez, when I describe myself I sound so all-over the place! I can’t help it though. I have a lot of different interest, that all take up a little bit of my time leading to me having no time!

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">How long have you been cosplaying?

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I actually just started cosplaying in fall of 2014. I always admired cosplayers, and thought I would never have their skill or talent, so I never tried. Then, all of a sudden I decided to go to a local small con, and decided to cosplay something very simple, River Song from <span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: italic; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Doctor Who<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">. It seemed like a natural fit because I love <span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: italic; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Doctor Who<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> and River and I have the same hair! Looking back, I am somewhat embarrassed about how little effort I put into this first cosplay. I actually made the whole thing the night before, but at the time I was so proud and happy to cosplay a character I love.

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">What are some of your hobbies?

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Well, as I mentioned I also am a fashion blogger (granted I am WAY behind on posting). I love to dress up, especially in vintage pieces, and sashay around. One of my favorite quotes is about being dressed up for life, because life is the occasion.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I also am a huge comic book and movie nerd. My love of comic books actually started thanks to my mom, who loved the X-men growing up. We used to watch the cartoon together on TV, and she would randomly bring me comic books (ranging from X-men to Spider-Woman to Barbie’s Adventures). My mom, is such a huge support in my love of nerdom that I don’t know what I would do without her. In regards to movies, almost every weekend during the summer I am at the movie theater seeing the latest release and discussing it with anyone who will listen. I am also a big fan of classic Hollywood films; two of my favorite films are “Rear Window” and “A Streetcar Named Desire”.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Do you prefer to cosplay alone? or with others?

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Well, I only did my first group cosplay recently and had a blast! But, there is something nice about cosplaying alone too. There is a bit less stress about how your cosplay will look next your counterparts, and you don’t have to worry about cohesiveness.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;"><span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">What is your most expensive cosplay?

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The hard question, haha! I think my most expensive cosplay was my most recent one of Sombra from Overwatch. While the materials for her coat were not that expensive (thank the gods for the Fashion District), her bodysuit and wig were quite expensive. I usually make every part of my cosplay myself but this time I decided to just order her bodysuit online, and I’m happy I did, as I don’t think I would have been able to find a fabric that would match her design. And for her wig, I bought a pretty high quality ombre wig that I dyed and styled myself (her wig consists of two separate wigs I had to sew together). In addition, I always seem to rack up a lot of little costs along the way; a bit of glue here, some worbla there, and some more spray paint for good measure.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">But I feel it was all worth it, as I plan to wear Sombra again for an upcoming shoot and love how the whole cosplay came out. I will be making a few adjustments though.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">What is your favorite costume?

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My favorite cosplay is actually tied between Sombra and my Sorceress Kiki. I love Sombra because it was an incredibly challenging cosplay to make but so rewarding to see it all come together. It was also amazing to walk the convention floor and have people immediately recognize who I was. Plus, I so rarely do “serious” characters that it was fun (and somewhat challenging) to not smile in pictures.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I love my Sorceress Kiki cosplay, because it was completely an original idea that I was able to create from the ground up, especially with a character I love and relate to. I designed the cosplay on paper first, and adjusted it fit my capabilities and new vision along the way. When I wore it for the first time, it was so exciting to see people slowly recognize who I was. Even though I was not immediately recognizable, it was extra special when someone loved my original design.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My first convention was Long Beach Comic-con. I mentioned it a bit in an earlier question how I did a quick cosplay of River Song for it, and how it kicked off my love of cosplaying. After seeing so many people’s amazing cosplays, I wanted to join in on the fun.

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">What got you into cosplaying?

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I have always loved dressing up, and cosplay was the natural progression. When I was a kid, I actually was not allowed to celebrate Halloween so when I entered college I went crazy at Halloween. My friend and I would plan these elaborate costumes that we would make from crafts supplies and clothes from the thrift store, but man! We looked good!

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Plus, I had reached the level of nerdom where it was time to start cosplaying, haha!

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;"><span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I pretty much make all my costumes now, but I did end up buying the bodysuit for my Sombra cosplay. However, when I first started I would buy clothing and alter it to fit my cosplay to the best of my ability. It was a struggle because I always felt like I couldn’t fully achieve my vision this way, and it really forced me to learn how to sew and fabricate.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Any advice for poc cosplayers concerned about being outside their skin tone?

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Just do it. I have cosplayed characters that were different races and skin tones, and while some people may trumpet only cosplaying a character that looks like you, I feel like that is complete and utter bullshit. If you love a character, cosplay that character! It was nerve wracking for me the first time I did it, but now I just keep pushing forward. There will be naysayers on the sidelines, but look at the positive comments and find pride in yourself.

<span class="im" style="background-color: white; color: #500050; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Who are a few of your favorite cosplayers?

I went shopping with my cousin about a week ago, I hadn't seen her in a while and then when she had some free time, I jumped the chance to hang out with one of my favorite girls! Make sure you check out Brianna, an epic travel and lifestyle blogger in her own right. I was so excited to go shopping, it had been a while since I had gotten anything for myself, so I thought it would be the perfect time to do so. Here's what we got.
We visited Torrid, Hot Topic, H+M, and Charlotte Russe. I got enough underwear for the next month and a half, but I didn't really feel comfortable showing you those, or the braletts that I got, so the massive shopping haul turned into more of a regular haul.
I was pretty excited to have a haul to show you guys, like I said before its been a while since I've done some serious shopping. It also felt pretty good to be back in front of the camera again. I have quite a few ideas for my Youtube channel, so make sure that you watch, like and subscribe so you don't miss out!

I just realized that I've been visiting a lot of graveyards lately. I was talking about them with a couple of my photog friends, and they were really creeped out about it. Not that I really care what others think, but I was just curious how many of my readers see Cemetary and skip over the post? I was wandering around Lebanon when I came across Pioneer Cemetary and I automatically turned into the nearest parking lot so I could go explore it.
This Cemetary was erected in 1799. It is one of the oldest cemetaries I have every visited. It was very difficult to read the monuments, a lot of them where just illegible with wear and tear over the years. There were quite a few that were damaged or broken in half. I'm hoping by the weather, and not some douchbag having their idea of a good time.
After traipsing through the graveyard which was slightly wet, because it had rained the night before. I didn't want to people to think I was too weird and this graveyard wasn't really tucked away. It was at the corner of a very busy street, and I actually noticed quite a few cars slowing down as they passed me, probably curious about what I was doing. I even had a few honk. When I finally left the graveyard and was heading home, I noticed this beautiful gazebo like structure to my right, with a statue of a little girl reading, so of course I pulled over! It's called Library Park, and it's connected to Lebanon Library. You can even use the Library's wifi in the park! Aren't the Statues lovely?!

I'm so sorry guys, time has really been getting away from me these last two weeks. The Spring Season is just a little too crazy for me to handle right now. So I'm knocking posts from Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Just Monday, Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be the Youtube video for the week!

I'm talking about the awesomeness that is Drak Pack today on Nerdette Minute! A cheesy 80's cartoon about Descendants of movie monsters fighting crime against an organization of generally rotten enterprises!

With the way the world is going right now. Especially with the way T*@(# is doing his job, it's pretty tough out here for a woman, a woman of color, or even someone who doesn't know what they are yet. I thought I would swing through to uplift spirits with a small series, where I highlight content creators of Color who I absolutely love. Today I'm just doing Youtube, but there will be more, on bloggers, artists, photographers and so forth! I'd love to dedicate a safe place on Nerdette At Large for them to shine.

First, I'd love to introduce you to Hey Claire. Hey Claire, is a youtube channel ran by Claire Marshall, who creates absolutely breathtaking beauty videos and beautiful travel vlogs. The painstaking eye she pays to detail while editing makes me want to cry, because she is just so dedicated and she creates beautiful results. I've been following her since 2011, and I can say with ease that I have seen every video of hers, and probably more than once. She just has one of the soothing voices, that I like to watch/listen to when I'm editing or creating content.
Next up is Clothesencounters! Ran by Jenn Im, is a breath of fresh air, when it comes to fashion content on youtube. She keeps everything unique and clean, and I've been a subscriber since before Sarah left. Jenn who just recently got married, keeps her channel bursting with new content super regularly, I can visit her channel anytime throughout the week, and there will be a video I haven't watched yet. I thoroughly enjoy her monthly favorites (she even includes a book! :)) and her vlogs out with Ben and their pup, Cheeki.
I'm so excited to tell you guys about Pretty Brown and Nerdy. These ladies are doing pretty big things. I'm sure I've talked about them on N.A.L. before, but I had to include them in this spotlight. This Nerdy Girl Trio are representing blerds awesomely with their content. They stream different games, do reviews, and have opinion videos about popular characters, and what anime's you should be watching. I fell in love with them right after their Fictional Crushes video and have continued to support them long after! Cheyenne is an organizational role model. She has three youtube channels, she uploads content to, on top of PBN! I can barely keep up with three posts a week, as you saw last week. I wish she held workshops. Jasmine, is calm cool and collected, and super knowledgeable about Anime. Camille, is adorable with her Nintendo love, and if you follow her on snapchat, make sure you check out her recipes!
Rounding us out is Shut Up Marina. A super informative + intersectionally feminist channel ran by Marina Watanabe, she has a series called Feminist Friday, where she drops feminist knowledge in bite size chunks. Her humor is sarcastic and dry, which I absolutely love, and she has tendencies that remind me of Veronica Mars. Which if you know me, at all, is HUGE PRAISE. She's also bi, so Representation, and does a great job of outlining what she has to say, and why she feels that way and giving you links to do your own research. I've been subscribed since her What is Cultural Appropriation video, which is crazy informative, if you've been wondering about the top you should go check it out.

If you have been reading me for a while, you'll know that I love movies. Whether they're in the cinema or just cuddled up on my couch and watching them at home. I love Movies, and I love film. Nerdette At Large has resided in some form, at this address since 2006. I have watched quite a few films in this time.
You guys know how much I love Batman. I've never talked about Superman or Aquaman Day on Nerdette At Large. I'm a DC fangirl, and I've always been a huge fan of Batman and his whole squad. The other day I watched Justice League Dark and I'm not saying that it wasn't good but I had a few things I could have done without.

One. There was so much death for a DC Animated Film. I count at least three bodies! Seeing as this is J.L.Dark, it's not like they couldn't have brought a couple of those people back. When there's magic involved, death doesn't seem to be a permanent thing. When I first saw that this movie was coming out, I was so excited that I re-read my Justice League Dark Vol 1. Expecting to see the awesome crew I know and love.
Instead I got a whole lot of Batman. I love Batman, he's probably my 2nd favorite hero. I go see pretty much Batman anything except (UGH Miller), but even I have to admit, that this movie had WAY too much Batman. They definitely could have given that screen time to a member of J.L. Dark, that could have used it, like ALL OF THEM. I'm very tired of him being the only DC hero getting any love.

My Favorite scene has to be the fight between Zatanna and Faust. I've only seen Faust one other time in Justice League Unlimited, and he seemed to be kind of a low level villain, I guess he put all those books in his library to good use, and bulked up a little. A huge fan of Zatanna, I was definitely expecting much more of her in this, she's always an extra or a back up character, since she's actually in this film, and part of the Dark Franchise, I was expecting her to take like 75% of the space, I was sorely disappointed.

Also, there is just something that really grinds my gears, about a womans voice being taken away. Villains do it all the time, I've lost count on how many times it's happened to Dinah. In this tone, and society, and time frame, there is something very mysoginistic, about the ability to "shut women up". That I've noticed has an underlying thread throughout a lot of DC comics, starting with this resurgence of the Killing Joke. So when Faust, took Zatanna's voice, and thus her "ability" to do magic, it really left a bad taste in my mouth, that further colored the tone of the film.
I loved seeing the Swamp Creature, and Deadman. Two Characters that don't really get a lot of love, I would have liked to see Madame Xanadu, Black Orchid, and Shade, honestly. I would have also liked to delve a bit deeper on how Constatine and Zatanna know each other so well.
All in All it wasn't a bad movie, it was just not quite what I expected. I really need DC to realize that Batman is not their only profitable character, and then act accordingly.

I'm back! Last week was a little rough, and while I wasn't really able to create content I was at least able to give you a video, and do some reading. So I'm back with my first comic post in like a month. I buy comics in spurts, and then I read them in spurts and then I write about them. That's usually how things work here at Nerdette At Large. I have three jobs and time is a little scarce among them right now. I really wish I had the balls and the following, to quit my job and just work on my blog full time, I'm sure I could make it into a sustainable business, if only I had the time to work on it. However, bills can't be paid with wants and dreams right?

I fell in love with Batgirl during Gail Simone's run. There's just something about Simone's writing that is just so authentic and honest. Then that gave way to the Tarr, Fletcher and Stewart run. While their writing did have some social issues that needed to be addressed (transphobia) on the whole it was as diverse as I had ever seen the D.C. universe. I fell in love with the art, and I collected all the issues.
Now we have Batgirl and Birds of Prey written by the Benson sisters, who will be at C2E2. Another reason why I'm working so hard. For the first time, I want to attend C2E2 for the entire weekend and cosplay all three days. So definitely needed to scrounge up a little more for that. It's not that the series is bad, do not take that from this, but I'm just not into it as much as the other two.
Barbara finds out that someone is selling information to the mafia in the area by the name of Oracle, her old alias. I was really hoping that Frankie was going to become Oracle with this reboot, but it appears to be going a whole 'nother direction. In order to help her track down the bad guys this time, she enlists the help of Dinah, Black Canary, on what she thinks will be a one trip folly, Babs has other plans however.

She has re-opened the Clocktower, and they've begun their search for the person at fault, along the way they meet Helena Bertinelli, who we all know as Huntress, but she's hardly called that. She apparently was an integral part of Spyral, but since I didn't read that I have no idea what's going on with that front. The thing that people seem to get hung up on about Huntress is that she kills. What people don't seem to realize is that she only goes after literally the scum of the earth. People who killed her family and will kill others. I'm sorry, but I say "Go Get Em, Girl!" Plus, she's taking down the Mafia, responsible for murder, drugs and sex trafficking, not like they sell ice cream on the corner and make an honest living.
It seems that they've finally moved away from Gordon being Batman, because that was just super weird to me, so I'm glad that's over. He still makes appearances in this series, mostly as an over protective father, so nothing new there. Babs and Dinah meet Helena as she attempts to murder their prime suspect in the Oracle caper. They begrudgingly decide to team up. One thing that really stuck out to me is that Barbara seems very suspicious of everyone around her. Which if you think about it makes sense, only a few people knew about Oracle, so it's possible that she has been betrayed. However, she makes a habit out of calling out Helena and making sure that she is watched every moment.

She even snaps at Helena after she saves her father, and only after Gordon Thanks Helena, does she see the error of her ways. Of course, by then, Helena who didn't seem to patient anyway is pretty fed up and decides to leave the group. I bought one through six, so I'm working on the next three now. One of the biggest things for me, is that they rehashed the story of The Killing Joke . I HATE THE KILLING JOKE. It was a one shot that has been around for way too long, Everyone knows the damn story, there is no reason to put it back into rotation, or even in her story. She's Batgirl, not Oracle, She can use her legs now and she's stronger than ever before, I was so absolutely angry when they rehashed that story. Absolutely Livid.
Like I said earlier it's not that I didn't enjoy the story. It's just different from the others, and I enjoyed both other runs a lot. Perhaps it will get better with time, it is only the beginning of the series, but I really had to push to get through the art. That's a big thing for me is the art. It doesn't have to be pretty, but it shouldn't distract from the story it should help it along.
