Handheld Mistress #34: Why I returned Tri-Force Heroes...

November 6, 2015

Hey Gang!

I just had to get this off of my chest. If you guys follow my social media at all, you are aware that I picked this game up on Halloween almost a week ago. Now I've been writing about video games on here since 2011, and I don't think I've ever done a full post badmouthing games, so I won't begin to do so now. HOWEVER, I have tried countless times to play Zelda, in all of its incarnations, and it honestly isn't doing anything for me.
I chose to pick up Tri-Force Heroes, because it was brand new, you got to co-op which was something I was really looking forward to, one of the issues with Zelda for me was solving the puzzles, so if I had a partner to help me solve the riddles and we could play together, maybe I would enjoy the game more. So I set up Download Play for Alex, so he and I could set off on our journey together. The last time I wrote about Tri-Force Heroes was my report on E3, and I stated that I was so excited for a zelda co-op game, and that it would definitely be one that I purchased in the near future.
Unfortunately, even after setting up Download Play for him, I had so many issues getting it to connect and for him to hop on with me, that I had to consult the almighty interwebs to figure out why I was having so much difficulty. Then google answered it for me. You can play Tri-Force Heroes by yourself or with TWO friends, but it is not available for a two-player campaign... I was livid! I ran to twitter, because my phone was dead at the time, and I was unable to explain my gripes to snapchat. The whole entire reason for purchasing this game was for its multi-player capability, there are so many games that don't allow me to play with another person I was beyond excited for this opportunity only for them to tell me that the game is DESIGNED not to be played that way?
I don't know about you guys, but I don't just have two friends at the ready with extra time to start a zelda campaign with me...DO you? The only time I've ever had games where I had more than one extra friend at the ready were PARTY games, or Scott Pilgrim V.S. The World for PS3. I remember playing each of those maybe twice in my entire gaming experience. Who has internet capable friends that are all on at the same time? Why wasn't that thought of as an issue when they were designing the game?
Also if you decide to play alone? The wizard creates two wooden dopplegangers of you, that you then literally CARRY around on your journey, using the touch screen, you tap between Green, Blue and Red and different levels and situations call for different things. Which just seems like a crazy amount of work for a solo campaign on a handheld system.
Sigh, I was so excited for this game that I actually pre-ordered it. The only other game I've ever pre-ordered was Professor Layton V.S. Ace Attorney. Needless to say, I will be returning Tri-Force Heroes to Gamestop later today, and hopefully be leaving with a few new games to try out and not an overwhelming sadness at another new game I was disappointed in.

Have you bought any games, you immediately had to take back? Tell me Below or on Twitter!!

Halloween Night

November 2, 2015

Hey Gang!

Spokhette dressed as Pikachu, with Sock Yarn and Triforce heroes. I hope your Halloween went as well as mine did. I had a few friends and family over for our "annual" Movie marathon. This year however was very different, we only watched two movies, we played board games, card games, told scary stories and pretty much just enjoyed each other's company. I had an absolute blast, I can't wait to see whats in store for next year. There were so many kids trick or treating. We got kind of a slow start on it, but I had so much fun giving children candy and everyone that was at the party got the chance to give candy so that was pretty cool. I decided that I would be Pikachu to Alex's Ash instead of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf this year. I put makeup and my ears on and wore a floral dress, while Alex dressed up like Ash without the hat, it was much too hot, with everyone there to do the hat. My friends Claire and Emily Dressed up as Goddesses of the Day and Night respectively and my sister decided to be a Swat Bombshell. She reminded me of Neicy Nash all Night. It was pretty Hilarious! Claire brought me the most beautiful super bright red and orange skein of Sock yarn, because she knows its my weakness. I also stopped and finally picked up my pre-ordered Tri-Force Heroes for my 3DS! I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, because I was much to busy being social, but I plan on digging into it this weekend, because I'll be enjoying our two year anniversary. Emily and I put together a debate over which is Better #Pokemon V.S. #Digimon. Which I'll be editing throughout the week and it will be up on Youtube within the next week or So. You can find mine here and Emily's Here.

I hope you guys enjoyed your Halloween! If you'd like, tell me about it in the comments or on Twitter.

 Stay Nerdy,

5 days of Halloween: Totoro

October 29, 2015

Hey Gang!
Today I was Totoro, your friendly wind Guardian Chinchilla. Unfortunately, it didn't go over very well. Not a lot of people knew who the character was, so people just thought I was a mouse. *sigh* In their defense, maybe the ears were a bit small. I made them from an old t-shirt and stitched them on the machine, when I turned them inside out for stuffing, they really shrank! I think if I did this costume again, I would most definitely draw a much larger pattern. I'd rather them be to big then too small. I used Nyx felt tip liner for the nose and whiskers and my cat eyes.

What have you dressed up as this week? I'd love to see! SO let me know in the comments below.

 Stay Nerdy,

5 Days of Halloween: Peppermint Butler

October 28, 2015

Hey Gang!
Today I was Peppermint Butler, it didn't go over very well. Mostly because I don't think people watch Adventure Time where I work. No one seemed to know who I was supposed to be, and then the other half didn't really ask at all. They probably just thought I was really weird. Over all I liked it, and that's all that matters right? I changed the red bowtie instead to put in my hair and I think it looked better and more girly that way. I made the triangles on the side of my face with red lipstick and they stayed pretty darn well. A little too well. My face is a little red from all the scrubbing,

What did you dress up as today? Tell me on Twitter!!

 Stay Nerdy,

I am Swimming in Fabric!

Hey Gang!

Pokemon, sanrio, Keroppi, Adventure TIme, Star Trek, Star Wars, Tilly and the buttons Simplicity\

Boy you guys, Joann's must have my payday on a calendar! Everytime on the time I get paid, they send me an email with a whole slew of coupons in it for the weekend, I don't work on the weekend, so they know there isn't anything stopping me from visiting them and probably leaving with something. Needless to say, I always leave with something, and now Alex has banned me from getting any more. He thinking he can ban me from the fabric shop? My 2nd favorite place to be? So instead of the ban, he has imposed that I make one project a week. At first I laughed, like I love you, but dude, I'm grown , I DO WHAT I WANT, but then I thought about it, and I was like hey, that's kind of genius. So I plan on doing just that, and tell you guys about it at least once a week with a post, or a youtube video perhaps. About Youtube, I know there haven't been any videos in a while, but I wasn't feeling pretty enough (I know so stupid!) to vlog, but I plan on getting a lot more done this week and I have a whole bunch of different topics planned for you guys, so make sure you subscribe so you don't miss out!
Now onto the fabric, because there's a lot. I got Alex some Star Wars Cotton, and I'm going to make him a pillow case, but he was annoyed because the employee that cut it, said Star Trek. I was annoyed too, Star Trek is way better. (Bring on the hate! I'm READY! lol) I've picked up too big sections of Fleece, one in Keroppi and one in Adventure Time. I'm going to make some pretty nice throws from them. I'm kind of excited!
I was so excited to find the pokeball fabric! It has almost every type of pokeball, and I thought it was more unique then getting ones with the starters on them. I picked up some patterns, because just like my knitting, I am a freeform sewer, but I want to learn the tools of the trade. There both from Simplicity and their both halloween costumes, I couldn't resist the funky looking corsets or an easy to go back to version of Sailor Moon!
One of the things I am SUPER excited about was that I found +Tilly and the Buttons book; Love at First Stitch. It is so freaking pretty! I love the colors, I love how clean the instructions are, and I can't wait to use up some of my fabric going through every pattern in the book!! If you don't know who Tilly is please check out her website its swell for new seamstresses!

Have you guys gotten any cool fabric lately? I'd love to see it, or any projects that you've finished! Leave me a link below or on my twitter!
