September Favorites!

October 7, 2015

Hey Gang!

It's time to tell you guys about all the cool things I discovered last month! I spent a lot of the month surfing the web and networking with other bloggers, and finding super awesome shops with adorable items!

She Loves Dresses: Half Fashion Blogger/ Half Intersectional Feminist and all around badass. I love reading her posts, and I'm always checking out her instagram. I'm addicted.

Re-discovering Persona Q: I bought it quite sometime ago, started it and then for some reason put it on my gaming shelf and there it stayed. I'm Makoto and I'm on level 9 but I keep getting killed by those king Beetle things, they are so difficult.

Getting to talk to Brenden Fletcher and having his business card: There is a video and a blog post dedicated to how awesome this was to me, so I won't delve to deep.

Getting a photo with Adam West: There is a Blog post and I'm working on a video talking about how awesome this was, so I won't talk your head off about it here now.

Getting interviewed by Evon Von!: This was my first interview by another blogger and it was awesome. I was so excited to be contacted for this you guys, you just have no idea. I've been blogging for a really time, and I've never really been featured on anyone's blog's before this year, and I was just so hyped about the opportunity.

Scoring an interview with Andrea of Killin me softly: I have talked about her so much, but her stuff really is amazing!

Discovering Trinket Geek: I have been looking for nerdy jewelry that doesn't look like its going to fall apart if I pull so hard, and their stuff is SO CUTE!!! I am so in love with their Sailor Mars Henshin Symbol Bracelet!

Bara-Chan's Glittery Pluto: I can't even deal with the cuteness.

What were some cool things you discovered last month? Tell me below or on Twitter!

 Stay Nerdy,

Series #13: Fall Television

October 5, 2015

Hey Gang!
I know I have been a little behind on keeping up with great content for you guys! I have so many ideas floating in my head and I've had some issues moving from my head into fruition, but I've been working on that, and I can't wait to show you guys everything I've got planned. For Starters, Telling you all about how much I am loving television this fall.

Rosewood: Can we talk about how amazing Rosewood is? Ya'll know I love a good mystery show. Heck, I can even get behind a good police procedural. But this, is in a league of its own. Comedy. Intelligence, Diversity, and open sexuality representation. I love Detective Via. There isn't a single character introduced that I don't like. Its the first show I go to when I hit Hulu.

Scream Queens: The trailers for this show all summer, made me so excited. Neicy Nash, Keke Palmer, the sarcasm, the Humor. I couldn't wait for this bloody show to start. (pun unintended) Now that it's here, The vocabulary is problematic, and Emma Robert's Character is beyond grating. I'm really waiting for her to get chopped up like seriously. I swear Neicy and Keke make the show for me. But this past episode with "the Ghetto rules", the golf fraternity, baseball bats, and Backstreet Boys. Like I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard.

Empire: When Season one was airing, I somehow missed out. Thanks to hulu, I was able to watch all the missed episodes in one go, a single day. I was so hooked. Now season two is here and I have to watch one episode a week like everyone else and I'm DYING....I need to know that everything is going to be ok. I need Luscious to forgive Trey, He literally poured his heart and soul into the company, like it wouldn't be there without him, lets be truthful.

Scandal: I have a love/hate relationship with Scandal. I am so tired of Olivia and Fitz relationship. It irks me because there are so many things wrong with it. I really really wanted her to be with Jake. I wanted her to be able to bask in the sun, and Fitz isn't able to give her that. Giving Mellie divorce papers in season 5 is too little too late in my opinion.

What Television shows are you guys watching? I'm always up for watching something new! Tell me all about it on Twitter and Google +

 Stay Nerdy,

Nerdout: Killin' Me Softly

September 30, 2015

Hey Gang!

I am so excited about this interview guys!! I am using Skillshare to try to get back into the swing of learning again, and I've signed up for Andrea's Class for how to make Plushes of your pets. Its such a fun class, you really should check it out. The reason, I am so excited about this interview is because I am a huge fan of Killin' Me Softly, I have mentioned her Plushes on this blog several times, and I am currently coveting the Edgar Allan Poe Plush but I want them All! I literally squealed when she agreed to an interview ya'll, I can't wait for you guys to learn all about her, and make sure you go visit her shop and instagram after this, for an overload of felt cuteness!!!

- Tell us a little about yourself and your business.

I am a freelance artist/puppet builder living in Brooklyn, New York. I started making plush dolls just over a year ago. I wanted to use my puppet making skills to make something simple that people could enjoy without spending a fortune. Once I came up with the concept of making cute, plush serial killers - Killin' Me Softly was born.

- Where does your inspiration come from?

It honestly comes from everywhere! I love Horror and Gothic culture so that is where many of my character inspirations come from. I also love making Disney villains and other belover characters from my childhood. Of course, TIme Burton is one of my biggest influences, especially his work with NIghtmare Before Christmas. Aside from that, I have made so many Johnny Depp characters that I change the name of the shop to the Johnny Depp Doll Company and no one would blink an eye.

- You currently have a class on skill share for plush making, are you nervous about your new teaching role?

I was nervous to start because I thought no one would take the Class! I'm feeling better now that a couple hundred people have enrolled and I have some good reviews. Aside from that, I haven't been very nervous - I don't mind making a fool of myself as long as my information is correct.

- If someone was having issues following your instructions, what advice would you have for them?

I'd say make sure you take your time. Sewing is not a race! I have trouble following htis rule a lot of the time but it'll save you a ton of grief if you're just careful and patient at all times.

- You have such a unique style, do you have a fiction or non-fictional role model (s) you pull strength from?

The big three for me would be Walt Disney, Jim Henson and Tim Burton. They have all created their own worlds that other people can now enjoy. I just think that's an amazing thing, to let people see into your imagination.

 - If you had to describe your shop to someone new, how would you sum it up for them?

I make design oriented plush dolls of creepy and cute characters all from the comfort of my tiny apartment in Brooklyn.

-  If you were going to make a plush for your own personal use, what would it be and why?

My favorites that I have made are the Lock Shock and Barrel set as well as Sweeney Todd. I think part of the reason is that they are some of my absolute favorite characters but I also love the way they look in doll form.

- Who is your favorite Scary Movie Killer?

It's no competition, I love Freddy Krueger. The recently late Wes Craven broke so much ground creating Freddy. Yes he was scary, but he was also one of the first killers to be witty and silly. I think it's important to not take yourself so seriously, there's a lot of comedy in darkness.

- What are some of the things you Nerd Out, or obsess over?

I'm a complete Disney addict. I cannot get enough of Disney history and need to know everything about the evolution of the company and the parks. Going back to what I said before, stepping into Disneyland is literally like stepping into the mind of Walt Disney and I think there's something so magical about that.

 Stay Nerdy,

Comics Roundup #13: 5 ways to Celebrate Batman Day + How I spent Mine

September 28, 2015

Hey Gang!
Happy Monday! Not sure if you knew, but Saturday was Batman Day! I spent the day with my family watching animated films such as Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and an episode or two of 66's Batman just to round out the fun, we also played a really fun game called Heads Up. This game is on my ipad and you can buy empty cards which you can then fill in yourself, so we did and we have our very own Batman trivia Deck. I highly recommend it. Here are some options that you can do for next year!

- Have a Marathon: Unless you are new to my blog you'll be aware that I have a very fond spot in my heart for binge-watching... Pretty much anything. Television Shows, Movies, K-Dramas and more in one sitting. This is a great way to celebrate Batman Day. You don't have to go crazy, one season of the animated series, all of his live action movies in a row, or maybe even just his animated films, My favorite is the Mask of the Phantasm, maybe even taking a stroll down memory lane with episodes of '66 Batman on Amazon.

- Have a Bookathon: Batman is a tale old as time, with just as many issues! Cuddle up with your favorite Comics buddy and start reading one of your favorite Batman comic runs! I'm a huge fan of Snyder + Capullo's Court of Owls Run. But who says, you only have to celebrate/honor Batman on this day? What about all the others that made his story awesome? Why not pay homage to Valentine's Catwoman? Have a few laughs with Nguyen's Lil' Gotham,  Better yourself and open your hearts with Gail's Batgirl. Solve a mystery or two with Fletcher's Gotham Academy. Doesn't really matter what ya choose, you'll find Batman in all of these titles.

- Be your own Gordon: Report any crime you see in your area. Help your police help you. Keep an eye out for anything suspicious, always, but especially today. Heck, you might even see the Caped Crusader coming to lend a hand. Crime doesn't pay, and you can make sure it doesn't have it's day, by monitoring your surroundings!!

- Dress up: Now unless you just have a batman suit lying around in your closet begging to be used, I wouldn't suggest running around your fair city as our favorite Crime Fighter, but maybe just channel him into your style for the day. With Batman being so popular its super easy to find apparel with his signal, and even smaller items, like barettes and bows. You only need a little to feel like a million.

- Share it with your best Friend: My little sister and I are huge batman fans. One of the reasons we love him so much, is because he is a common interest of ours. So pull a Dick and Tim, A Batman and Superman and go enjoy a batman activity together!! Go see a Batman Movie. Play a game of Batman Trivia. Bake Batman Cookies. Just choose something batman related, A pal with a sense of justice, and have a ball.

Tell me about how YOU spent Batman Day down below! I'd love to talk about it on all the Social Media. Come interact with me!!
