Nunjas! Cinema #14: Batman Bad Blood

January 29, 2016

Hey Gang!

As you guys know I am a huge Batman fan, and what better way to celebrate my love Bruce Wayne and his bat family then to review the newest animated Film?! When I saw the trailer, I was pretty excited about the movie when I heard about it and I was literally counting down the days until it came out, and I couldn't wait to watch it! Then Cheyenne from Pretty Brown and Nerdy did a Spoiler free review on Friday, and I didn't want to watch it until I had seen the movie. So I made it top priority to see it over the weekend, besides, who doesn't want to see BatWing AND Batwoman animated? I was all over that.

- I was so surprised that Firefly and Mad Hatter were integral parts of the story, especially since these weren't supervillains.

- Mmmm, Dick Grayson. That chain has got to go! But who the hell is Cory? I was kind of glad that even though it was animated, it wasn't super clean. Its good for art to grow with its audience.

- Can you imagine Gotham without Batman? I can't, especially not for two weeks, 1 day and 15 hours.

- I was so excited about Batwing and Lucious Fox, Yes to DC Inclusion!!

- I was totally in love with Kate's Haircut.

- It always seems to start with Death for the batfamily doesn't it? Kate loses her sister Elizabeth and her Mother Gabrielle.

- Damian and Dick Grayson as Batman? What more could you want?

- I love how everyone knows Dick isn't really batman. It's almost like a running joke.

- Lucious better live or ELSE! How does Heretic know about the Vault?

- Mad Hatter working with Talia?! Heretic definitely has feelings for Talia.

- Batwing looks so badass!!!

- Damian is so adorable while he's getting bandaged up.

- What happened to the mental walls that Bruce is supposed to have set up? Hatter is going through them like swiss cheese! I hate how easy it is for Heretic to just infiltrate everything.

- I'm so in love with Batwing, I need to see more of him.

- Was I the only one creeped out about Heretics feelings about Talia? "I want to know you like he knows you?" Thats his mom dude, thats gross.

- My favorite quote" Nuns with Katana's and M60's? That would make them Nunjas."

- Love that the ceiling collapses on the guy fighting Damian and Bruce. Pure Comedy.

- "Oh my god, Kid, you're mom's got game.

- Talia is flippin crazy for this plan, but you have to get give her some credit, Brain Control?

- Dick finally gets to prove himself against Bruce and gets his arm broken? Not Cool.

- When Mad Hatter looses his head, and Alfred says Bloody Hell, that was crazy!

- Wow! I'm going to need Talia to be locked up for a while after this. "We can always make more?" What the hell is wrong with her?!

- I was so mad at the Taliamobile though, I was glad at her ending.

- I was half shocked and half excited to see the New Batgirl in the movie? I don't know what they're going to do with her in the newer movies but I'm hoping it will be great. She looked awesome animated.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR TEEN TITANS VS. JUSTICE LEAGUE, WHO WILL WIN?!

If you've seen the movie what did you like or not like about it? Lets talk on twitter!

Cinema #13: Spectre (Spoilers)

January 25, 2016

Hey Gang!

After that double whammy of adorable anime short film reviews, I have a little bond for you today. I had just gotten so inspired that I thought I would give you a few more film reviews. I've been watching a lot of movies lately, I've been on a bit of a knitting binge. I've been watching Bond since I was young and I was always interested in the spy aspect and gadgets of bond. Although, my favorite Bond is Sean Connery. My favorite characters are the ones holding him together; M, Moneypenny (New + Old) and Q (New and Old, but I'm PRETTY FOND of the new one. *wink wink*)

- Can I just say that I fell in love with the Octopus that is Spectre's Mascot.

- Is Senior Scarra the same person as the Pale King?

- Thank goodness that couch was there, Bond Had to know they would have Backup, why didn't he have a better plan?

- That helicopter would have made an amazing amusement park ride.

- Moriarity as Max Danby, C. I knew he was up to no good the minute he came onto the screen. I didn't like him instantly, didn't like the way he treated Q. If Q stands for Quartermaster, than what does C stand for?

- Never knew Bond was adopted, but I supposed that makes sense with the story setup in Skyfall, since both of his parents passed and were buried there.

- Who is 009? Obviously not as good as 007, otherwise, he'd have had his car for his mission already!

- Can I say how much I absolutely love that Q has cats? He doesn't necessarily look like a cat guy, but now that I know he is, he's even more amazing *sigh*

- I was a little confused about the wife. He had sex with her, promised to save her, and then I'm pretty sure he abandoned her...

- Madeline was SO SO perfect for James. Who better to understand an assassin, then the daughter of one?

- Also, can we talk about 007's pain tolerance level, because holy shit, that guy was drilling holes in his head. I would have FREAKED OUT!

- I can't even imagine having someone so obsessed with me the way Franz was with James. To murder everyone in your life? Make sure that every single relationship NEVER works out? To spend their whole life making sure that you never enjoy yours?

I thoroughly enjoyed the music, the opening by Sam Smith has been on repeat for a while and the action definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. However, I definitely feel like it is a re-see because I feel like even though I always take notes during movies, I missed some important key items. I got enough to understand the story, but I just feel like something feel through the gaps. I would definitely go see it again, and I enjoyed it enough to write a review.

Have you seen Spectre? Or any other Bond Movies? Lets talk about them on Twitter!

Comics Roundup #21: The Siren's Unboxing and Review

January 22, 2016

Hey Gang!

I am so excited about this post you guys! I follow a lot of artists on instagram it really really inspires me. Instagram and Twitter are my favorite apps. I found this artist on instagram: Jacquelin De Leon and instantly fell in love. Her work is so beautiful, when I found out she put out a comic, I had to have it! Once it finally came back into stock I ordered the whole Limited edition set. It included Volume one of her Comic: The Sirens, A Fabric Patch with the Siren's tag, and a Poster. The Comic is absolutely beautiful. It feels and looks amazing, like she hand drew everything!

She signed the inside cover for me, and I can't wait to sew the patch onto something. The Poster is already hanging up in my room and I can't wait to buy more of her work. The sirens is a girl gang from San Francisco, who are just living life and enjoy pizza when a rival boy gang, the scorpions attempt to take over and it just doesn't go the way they thought it would. I was a little surprised by how violent it was, but by the second reading, I actually liked it better that way, just because they're girls doesn't mean it has to be sugarcoated and sweet. Girls can be violent and we can be downright dangerous when you come for whats ours. I hope people reading this book realize that and attach it to real life. A woman is nothing to scoff at.

- I love Jacquelin's art. It's smoky and seductive and makes you take a second look.

- I love that the story surrounds four women, all different, diverse and that they are curvier than your regular comic characters.

- These girls are totally badass and they mean business. They defended their territory and when it did get destroyed they took the fight to the destroyers and destroyed them. (How many times can you use destroy in a sentence Gabby?)

- I love the depth the girls have and how close they are to each other. They're like a family.

- I was particularly interested in how strongly the girls defended not only their turf but other women on the street that were being stalked and harassed by the Scorpion gang. I'm glad they got what they deserved.

- I was also interested in where the girls hung out while they were planning their revenge plan after their hideout was burned, and where they set up the new location.

- I do have a question about what happened to Sage's arm. Maybe it will be in explained in another issue.

I have seriously fallen in love with this series and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. I have been stalking the website waiting for the next issue to be released. If you love stories with actually strong female leads and compelling characters that you want to know about, this is the comic for you! You can purchase it from her shop, along with stickers, pins and other Sirens merchandise. If you'd like to learn more about the artist, you can visit her site here, or follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

Nerdette Minute #11: Star Trek Beyond Trailer

January 20, 2016

Hey Gang!

I'm on Youtube today talking about what I thought about the Star Trek: Beyond Teaser. It definitely did its job, I had so many questions when it was done. I watched it about five times before putting together my video just so I didn't miss anything. I know I haven't had anything on Youtube for a while, but When one media is short on content definitely check the other, because my blog has been spilling over with content! There's been short film review and a Finished Game Synopsis! I'm working on new Youtube content for you guys, so just hang in there for me!

Handheld Mistress #35: Finishing RadioHammer

January 18, 2016

Hey Gang!

I haven't really written about videogaming in a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been doing it. I had actually had a small heart attack about a week ago, because I keep a small set of games in my purse the whole time, so I can always play them on the go, well the other day I went to go play Kirby Triple Deluxe, I had gotten tired of getting beating up in Bravely Default, and then I noticed they were gone. Six out of the 10 games that I used pretty often, just up and gone. I checked everywhere. Thankfully, I found them in my passenger seat, What have I learned? I need to clean my car out.

I've been reading Tiny Cartridge off and on for a while, I've kind of had a crush for their writing. I'd love to write for them someday. They did an article on RadioHammer for the 3DS, which I had never heard of and of course I just had to check into it. A rhythm game with DJ's that were beating up perverts with hammers? What else could you want?
I downloaded it on Friday night right after I got off work and I finished it Sunday night. I was so sad when I finished it. Although, it allows for different methods for every level, I just feel like there wasn't enough game. There was talk about being able to play as the managers as well as the Dj's themselves, but I wasn't able to unlock that. I'm currently playing through on the alternative method for each level, maybe I'll unlock it then.

I fell in love with the game as soon as I saw a photo in Tiny Cartridge's Article, it was love at first sight. Simply Lita's Level was ridiculously hard. It took me three or four tries before I passed, I just had trouble keeping up the rhythm of the rock beat with her. I was so excited when I finally finished the level, the special character Celia was so adorable. Her music was so easy for me, she had classical music, and as a musician it was an easy job to get done. Which made me even more sad when I realized she was the last character.

IF you like Rhythm games, definitely check this out. I wasn't aware of this before, but it is also available on IOS and Android Phones, just in case you didn't have a DS. I give it a solid 4 1/2 stars, I just wish it was a little longer. Maybe another DJ? It just was too short. Have you played it? Tell me about it on Twitter!

Stay Nerdy,

Cinema #12: Little Witch Academia + The Enchanted Parade *Spoilers*

January 15, 2016

Hey Gang!

Oh my goodness, I am so in love with this series. The characters are adorable and completely relatable. The world is so magical and colorful. Its super hard not to get swept up in akko's boundless energy, no wonder Suxy and Lotte are always in trouble. I also love how silly everything is. Trashcans move, spirits in any little thing come say hello, and Sucy's remedy is Poison, Poison is Remedy bit makes me laugh every time.

- I'm wondering if the Professor with no name is Chariot. And if not, What happened to Chariot to where Akko can use her staff?

- I think it is interesting that even in a magical world you still have that old societal addage, giving whitches a bad name.

- I absolutely love the diversity in the classroom? Indian witches? I hope they expand on that in the 3rd one.

- Whats up with Diana? She's like an elitest witch, I wasn't aware that was a thing. They're like mean girl witches, and those two girls with her? Sterotypical anime girls. "Thats right Thats Right!"

- Poor Akko, there doesn't seem to be a single thing she's particularly good at.

- Why is everything so cute? Even the monsters are absolutely adorable.

- That labryinth was pretty dangerous, leaving Minotours lying around and magically bound magical eating dragons? Who thought that was a good idea?

- Those mean girls, are so rude! Calling them incompentant witches, when they literally saved their life!

I'm glad that it has a sequel, but why are there only two films? I wish they'd do an anime. It could be great! I need a lot more backstory to Sucy and the Professor. In Two, we find out a decent chunk of Lotte's Backstory. I already know way too much about that troublemaker Akko! I watched both movies in successionl I was surprised to find out it was done by the studio taht gave us kill la kill. I haven;t seen the series yet, even though I've heard great things, I was turned off by the art.
I think Sucy might be my favorite character. I love the way they designed her to look like a ghoul/zombie. Her voice and Demeanor  reminds me a lot of the necromancer, from Code of Princess. I see a cosplay of her in my imminent future. I did want to do more cosplay this year. I'm going to do at least two costumes. One for each convention I planned on attending in 2016.

If you haven't seen the movies yet, they are available on Netflix. If you have seen them, lets talk about them? I just can't get over how adorable Sucy is, she's moved to the top of my list of costumes for the year.

Goals for 2016!

January 13, 2016

Hey Gang!
I didn't really write about my new year or Resolutions. Instead of following tradition like all the years before I want to do something different. I just made a small list of obtainable goals for the year and I thought I would share with you guys, because 2016 is going to be different from last year and I have so many plans for the year! I can't wait to show you guys all of the cool things coming your way. I really suck at keeping secrets, so I've been working really really hard to keep my mouth shut so I don't ruin the surprise for you guys!

- Gain More Followers: I really want to grow my fan base. I'd like to reach 100 for Nerdette At Large, and Youtube. I'd like to reach 450 for Twitter and 380 for Instagram.

- Get Two more tattoos, from my list. Once I get them done, I'll take pictures and talk about the story behind them, but right now I don't really want to talk about it, so my ideas don't get stolen.

- I want to save $5,000 by the end of the year.

- I want to go to at least 2 Conventions this year.

- I'd like to start Streaming Gaming Footage, this year. I've already signed up for Twitch and with the PS4 once I get a camera I can start super easily, I'm currently saving up to get a modded 3DS for Streaming all the games I know and love but until then *They're like 480!* I will be doing stuff with the PS4. I can't wait to start!!

There are just so many ideas floating around in my head and writing them down so I can organize them and then flesh them out into awesome stuff for Nerdette At Large.

Do you guys have any goals for the new year? Tell me! I'd love to talk about your plans for 2016!

Nerdette At Large Wasn't Naughty This Year!

January 11, 2016

Hey Gang!

So I know this is pretty late, but I honestly am not sure how it fell so far behind. So Lets just get into it! I pretty much had three christmases (Christmasi?). One with Alex, One with my Family and One with Alex's Family. I made out like a bandit this year, and even though there are a few things that I wanted that I didn't get, I can't wait to pick them up during the rest of the year.

Alex got me: a beautiful Leather bound notebook (Its way bigger than the notebook I'm using now for journaling and blog ideas.) A Quill with a real raven's feather, it came with a bottle of black ink and he picked up a bottle of blue ink to give me some variety, Veronica Mars and the Million Dollar Tanline (paperback, if you were hoping for more Veronica after the movie, this is the book for you it is literally like the show, its like they kidnapped pieces of the script everything about the novel is perfect and there will be more coming SOON!) and the Complete Universal Monster Movie Collection, (All 30 movies and 64 page collectible book).

Alex's Family got me: Pretty Deadly Vol 1, Justice League Dark Vol 1, Shovel Knight (PS4), Nail kit, Heated Blanket with multiple controls, a complete crochet hook kit and money.

My Family got me: A super comfy Avengers Throw/Blanket, Guitar Hero (PS4), JStars Victory VS (PS4), AND a  Playstation Four with two controllers!  I was so excited about the Playstation that I opened it instantly and spent the rest of Christmas day Dueling Guitars with my family.

I had way too much fun spending time with my family and just relaxing. I took a hiatus from the blog during the week of Christmas, and my job closed on Wednesday so I got a nice 4 day weekend. It really gave me a chance to charge my batteries and use that spare energy to focus on where I wanted to take Nerdette At Large.

What did you guys get for Christmas? What are some of your Christmas Traditions?

If Harry Wasn't a Boy.

January 6, 2016

Hey Gang!

Today's post is going to be a little different. It's actually pretty different from anything I've ever written here before. Which is strange if you think about it because I've had this address since 2008 and I've written a multitude of different posts. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this post is pretty unique and I understand if it isn't for everyone.
It's about a dream I had a few months back, but I wasn't really sure how to go about it, so there it stayed in my notebook. However, I have recently been inspired by Dorkface recently to write more personal/ lifestyle posts. What could be more personal than my dreams? This one is pretty different, and for all the Straightlaced Harry Potter fans, I'm...Sorry?
A couple of months ago, I had a dream about Harry Potter, but not the one that everyone knows and loves. It kinda went something like this. This Harry Potter was Trans. She knew that she was in the wrong body but before she could tell her parents about it they died. And instead of going to live with the Dursleys, She actually lived with Dumbledore. Who claims to be an ally to all "He's even Gay" but denied Harry the ability to feel more like herself. At every turn, Dumbledore shut her down, and never actually listened to what she needed. She makes it to Hogwarts where she enjoys her education, and dresses how she feels, and goes by Harriet.
Once Dumbledore realizes that Harriet hasn't been listening to his instructions he is furious. After years of abuse, Harriet snaps and kills Albus, I woke up wondering what happened to Harriet. I'm not sure what brought up this dream, I usually never really know. they usually aren't based on anything that happened that day, and I hadn't watched or read any Harry Potter, in that month, so I'm not sure how I came up with it.
I do think it might have been Kat Blaque's and MarinaShutup's Influence. I'd been watching a lot more feminist and open sexuality videos of theirs.  I had this dream around the time I had discovered her amazingly educational channels. I have already gone into detail about how awesome they are. So I won't do it here.

I don't even know how to end this. I guess It was just like a brain dump. This is what I wanted to write about though, so don't get mad at me for trying something new. What did you guys think of this role reversal on a "pretty classic" story? Tell me down below!! Nerdette At Large is a safe haven blog for any individual of any sex, Gender, or orientation. There is no judgement here, I welcome everyone.

Until Next Time,
 Stay Nerdy.

Comics Round-Up #20 Spoilers!

January 4, 2016

Hey Gang!

I'm trying to make decent headway with these comic posts, because I have comics in my pull list waiting for me, and I can't wait to read them! New Silk, New Thor, Moon Girl. It's so hard, But I want to finish these first before I buy any more, because ya know, Money doesn't actually grow on trees. I just finished reading Bombshells #3-4 , Zodiac Starforce #2-3 and Swords of Sorrows #1. Don't let the cover fool you, it's written by Gail Simone and is so full of female characters that it puts Sailor Moon to shame. I counted 14 in the first issue.

Bombshells #3-4: I'm a little confused about Supergirl and Stargirl's involvement, will they they eventually become bombshells? Was Hal Jordan / Green Lantern really trying to get on with Harley Quinn? Hey Dc, I need More Zatanna, and if you could toss in some Vixen and Huntress in my Bombshells Please and Thank You. I am so in love with the art in this book you guys! Like Seriously, All the DC ladies look so Glamorous. I think the small exchange between Steve Trevor and Wonderwoman, when they talk about her star armor, I thought that was really cute.

Swords of Sorrow #1: How did I not know about this before?! Let me just tell you what you are missing ok? Red Sonja, Green Hornet, with a female Kato, Jennifer Blood, Irene Adler, Lady Zorro AND Vamparella all in the same comic book. I'm not sure where they are going to take this book, because the first issue was more of an introduction of all the characters but I can tell that the story and female character content is going to give DC's Bombshells a run for its money.

Zodiac Starforce #2-3: Can I just talk about how much I freaking love this story? The characters are bright and cheerful even when they aren't. The colors are dazzling and every time, I open the cover, it brings a smile to my face. I love the little comics that Panetta and Ganucheau are doing in the back of all the Dark Horse comics, Everything about their stories are just SO CUTE!!!! The Cool Kids definitely have balls, How are you just going to come into my house and start ordering me around? Ugh, I really hate that Lilli was changed so easily. I can't wait for issue 4 so I can see The Girls kick their butt. I wonder if Diana's story will change Emma at all.

Have you guys read anything interesting lately? Tell me on Twitter!! Lets Talk Comics!!

 Stay Nerdy,

Series #16: 10 Favorite Television Shows + Film of 2015!

January 1, 2016

Hey Gang!

We've reached the end of the year guys! Welcome to 2016! Today, will be the end of 2015 talk and onto brand new and better things! I've just got to finish up my best of the year posts! I'm talking about Tv. and Film today! I didn't watch a lot of tv this year, so it will be super quick!

Scream Queens: I was a huge fan of just how ridiculous this series was. I wasn't a fan of the language used in the show, a lot of it was racist and homophobic, but it didn't last long thankfully. I hope it gets picked up, becuase it was actually pretty decent. Seeing Neicy Nash and Keke Palmer in the same show was not something I realized I needed until I already had it. Nice going Tv. Nice Going.

Twisted:  Starring the absolutely stunning Avan Jogia, this is a must see. A killer released back into high school and with the help of his old school chums to solve the case that he originally went to jail for. While the mysteries were good and acting was done well, for some reason it was cancelled after one season. Maybe with enough online stir, we can bring it back.

Pretty Little Liars: Although, we are currently waiting for Season 6 B, I have been loving Pretty Little Liars all the way up until the Season 6 A Finale. Not sure what occured with writing, many a thing was left open ended, I'm hoping that this new years season will tie up all loose ends and hope that the story continues for the better. I seriously miss my girls.

Empire: I don't think I really have to write anything here. Almost everyone with a television set, or an internet connection knows about Empire. If for some reason, you are new to this, it is a diverse cast of actors caught in a war of Music and production between father and mother. Its a great series.

Avengers: Age of Ultron: I won't write too much about this one, because it has its's own Rant Post, and it was a pretty popular Movie of the year.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: They recently released Series 3 on Netflix, so I have only been able to catch a few of the new episodes. I know that I am NOT a fan of her father. I was so in love with Series one and two and I'm hoping that the same amount of effort will be put forth towards this series and any more that they happen to grace us with. I wrote a complete Post about what I love about Miss Fisher here, if you are interested in learning more.

Fantastic Four: I know that some people will be confused as to why this movie is on my list. I really liked this movie. I wrote an entire post about why it wasn't as bad as people thought it was, so I won't go into detail. Besides, we all know you guys read me for a unique point of view, otherwise you wouldn't be here right? If you are intersted in the full Fantastic Four post you can check it out here.

Ant-Man: I originally wasn't even going to go see this movie. I had NOT been a fan of Ant-man from a very young age, and I was happy he hadn't had any kind of movie or following in the previous years. Alex dragged me to go see it, and there is a whole list of reasons why I both Disliked and liked the movie listed here. It made the list because the comedy was pretty darn good.

Lupin The Third (Live Action):  If you know who Lupin the Third is, you're doing pretty good. A lot of the internet thought this movie was complete shit. However, Seeing as I have actually seen the only other Lupin Live Action movie and know just how awful it is, this is like a breath of fresh air. It payed homage to the cartoons before it, and I was able to decipher and understand 90% of the movie. I had also been waiting for this movie for an entire year and a half. Despite the article in Kotaku, I thought it was a decent film.

Lupin The Third Vs. Conan The Movie: I've been a huge fan of Detective Conan, or as he's known over here Case Closed. It was a mystery, it was an anime, what more was needed? Although I haven't finished all 500 episodes, I've seen a good portion of the episodes and a good portion of the movies. This cross over movie is absolutely amazing. With Both anime's respective art styles being present you can clearly see that they've updated it for a newer audience. It is literally a movie about the greatest anime detective versus the Greatest anime criminal, its a melting of the best of both worlds. Sure it had its issues but what movie doesn't? All in All its a great movie addition to your anime shelf.

What did you watch this year? I can't wait to start watching movies into the new year. Lets talk Television and Film on Twitter!!
