Handheld Mistress #22: Becoming a Pokemon Master

April 17, 2014

So I am not a practical joker. Not even a little bit, Half of the time, I forget about April Fool's Day. It just isn't a holiday that pops up on my radar often. That last April fools day joke I remember is when I saw that episode of Batman: The animated Adventures, when Alfred says he drew Bruce a bath, and it's on a sheet of paper, and that was like ages ago! Jokes these days have gotten pretty bloody sophisticated. Google Maps decided to pull on my heart strings, and put out this video, calling for all capable peoples to open Google maps on their smart phone, click the Pokeball and start catching them all, if you happened to catch all 150 Pokemon littered through the world, then the last four standing will battle for the "actual Google position" of Pokemon Master. This prank was pretty impressive, and I was extremely depressed about the fact that it didn't actually exist. I was catching Pokemon until Alex Came home and then we watched Scooby Doo for the rest of the night, But I thought it would be cool to show off the Pokemon I did manage to capture, because despite how absolutely amazing this prank was, people aren't really talking about it like I thought they would so I decided that I would do the Honor, because Dude, Google! Google, was joking and gave us the opportunity to capture Pokemon in towns that we can actually visit! ~ Imagine what they could do if they were really trying? I didn't actually catch all 150, which weren't the originals but a mix between all Pokemon generations. It was a great ploy on Game Freaks behalf, because all it really made me wanna do, was play Pokemon X on my 3DS, One for subliminal messaging, Zero for little ole me.

Sew Nerdy! #1

April 16, 2014

The summer is almost upon us, and with that comes more free time then usual. I have decided to spend mine re-learning how to sew. To give me a good push of motivation in the right direction, i stopped by jo-ann fabrics, who was having a sale on their printed character fabrics, 30% off! I got a little happy and purchased 2 yards each of  5 different fabrics costing me about $60 all together... So until I actually force myself to work with the 3 shelf cabinet that is currently full of fabric i wont be picking anything else up. I figured that i would make a little "tutorial" series out of my sewing experiences this summer, in case there were others like me who wanted to try something different. Heres the fabric i bought and the machines I'll be working with during this series. A singer machine from the 80's and a janome machine i bought two years ago that I hadn't used since, so ill be re stringing and all that good jazz and be showing you guys how to do it as well! I think i'll bring my youtube back to life with this little project, because my camera should be here shortly. (C'mon! Tax return) I picked up: Keroppi, Disney villians, Star Trek, Batman and Marvel comic covers, I cant wait to start this series guys!!! So if you like sewing, nerdy things, d.i.y.s and learning something new, this is definitely the series for you!

Until next time,
Stay Nerdy,

Handheld Mistress #21:New PS3 GAMES

April 10, 2014

My boyfriend and I have just purchased a new television, and as we are the super nerdy couple that we are, a new television definitely calls for 2 things. New Video Games and New Movies. We stopped by Gamestop on his side of town, to see if we could find a cheaper alternative to the OUTRAGEOUS game controller prices we discovered at Best Buy. Unfortunately, every company seems to be sipping on the Kool-Aid because we couldn't find anything at an affordable price, except this God Awful wireless controller that was the color of pepto Bismol, with trees in the back ground, Alex informed me that it was pink Camo. (Why In THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT A PINK CAMO CONTROLLER? THAT'S ANOTHER POST ENTIRELY) Why is every controller for the PS3 we found 54.99 and Up? I nearly had a heart attack when I saw those price tags at Best Buy.
While in Game Stop, hoping for cheaper controllers (Fail) Alex and I picked up a few games, I feel like an adult gamer, every single game I picked up was rated M and this time, they didn't card me! Aw Shucks. I told Alex, I wasn't going to spend more than 40, and I was 8 bucks away!!! I didn't realize until I was already in line that They had started Selling Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, but seeing as I'm still finishing Diabolical Box, I feel like I can wait for the price to come down a bit. So Instead I got 4 new (to me) PS3 games. Assassins Creed, Fairytale Fights, Borderlands and Dead or Alive 5. Alex picked up Mortal Kombat V. DC Universe. I don't know if  you guys have read VSS before, but 3 of these games are NOT like the others. I'm wanting to expand my gaming experience, I've never been a big fan of games like these because of the camera system honestly, but I feel like as a gamer, it's holding me back from enjoying some really amazing games, so I have decided to take the plunge.  As Alex said, while dragging me towards the door (You really are a gamer, This is the last shelf, can we go now?) Ain't My Yoshi 3DS Pouch Hella Cute? I keep all my 3DS things in there, the system, the games, the charger and the stylus and I can drop it in my purse on the go. I LOVE IT! While I was in Game Stop, Dev from Kentucky visited me! I love streetpass, I can't imagine how amazing it would be to live in a big city like Tokyo or New York, and have my 3DS, It would probably crash with all the players I would get visits from.

Series #5: My Love of Scooby Doo and Fictional Detectives

March 31, 2014

Howdy Sugars,
When I was a kid there was no shortage of television. But even then I was watching things that most kids my age wasn't, a big chunk of my television time was dominated by mystery solving detectives. Cartoon or otherwise, didn't bother me, you had my attention if there was a crime to be solved. My Childhood favorites included: Perry Mason, Matlock, Murder She Wrote, Hong Kong Phooey, Scooby Doo, and Jabberjaw. As, I grew up my tastes changed and I watched more grown up shows like, Veronica Mars, Columbo and Law and Order SVU, but that need to solve the crime never went away, I'm 22 now, and I still have a huge place in my heart for Detective Shows. Thanks to Websites like Netflix, Freetv, and Hulu I can watch older shows that weren't around when I was looking for them. Like, the Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Ellery Queen, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, and Newer ones like Sherlock, Pretty Little Liars, Criminal Minds, and Bones.

The Thing is, even though Scooby-Doo continually comes out with a new tv show every year, this past incarnation: Mystery Incorporated, was by far one of the BEST ONES EVER! I've been watching Scooby-Doo since before I could talk, I've even gone back, I've seen every movie, and I own Scooby-Doo and the 13 Ghosts on DVD, The whole Series. This was the only Scooby-Doo series, with a continuous story Arc, and it was COMPLETED, it pulled characters from ALL OVER, Including Johnny Quest, and 13 Ghosts, with the inclusion of Vincent Van Ghoul, The Funky Phantom, Jabberjaw, Blue Falcon and DynoMutt! Unfortunately, Mystery Incorporated reached Completion with the end of the 2nd season, but there is a section of my heart that will be forever hoping for a 3rd Season, We were finally going to see them go to COLLEGE, I mean they've been around since the 60's the least you could do now, would be send them to College.

Until Next Time,
~Spokhette!~

P.S. Convo Continues on Twitter! What is your favorite Mystery Show??

Handheld Mistress #20: Ds Games and MORE

March 27, 2014

Its been so long since I picked up my 3DSXL, I didn't even realize that I bought three new games, and didn't even do a write up about them! I've been so distracted with trying to keep up with my job, my boyfriend and getting better from the illness that had me out for three weeks, that video games had completely slipped my mind, I know it's freaking terrible!! For Christmas, My parents bought me a replacement PS3, but I haven't even gotten a chance to play that! I haven't even bothered looking for new PS3 games. The last time I purchased video games, I bought 3 brand new 3DS games, it killed me, it was almost $100! I wound up purchasing Project X Zone, Batman: Blackgate. and Professor Layton and The Miracle Mask. I officially own every Professor Layton Game except The Azran Legacy and the Crossover with Phoenix Wright. ( Which I want so Bloody Badly, maybe I can convince le boyfriend to get them for my birthday...)
In other Gaming News, my cousin came over and played Pokemon X, so now I have to completely restart my game, because I woke up to my starter on its 3rd evolution, Badge 6 and the pikachu I had JUST caught at level 80! Why did they change the way you erase saved Games? I remember when I had to threaten my cousins with their lives, so they wouldn't accidentally  save their new games, and now I have to press like 4 buttons in succession in order to start it over again, sometimes I beg for the simpler times...
I was thrifting with Le Boyfriend ( a habit we partake in every once in a while) and while in a booth practically filled to the brim with toys and plushes, who should I happen to come across but Oswald, the bloody Lucky Rabbit!!!!! Now the reason, I'm talking about him during a HHM instead of a thrifting with Gabby original would be because he was included in Epic Mickey 2, and the 3DS companion Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, and the plush is absolutely adorable! Also Disney Specific news, Kingdom Hearts Three is a GO! It is in the works, and it will be the only one that will be a cross platformer since it will be the only one to be featured on a Microsoft Platform (Xbox One) although heaven to betsy I can't understand why anyone would want too.

Until Next Time,
~Spokhette!~

Wicked Lovely

March 13, 2014

 Hello Lovelies,

Last Saturday, my sister, cousin, mother and I went to go see a rendition of Wicked at our downtown local theatre! It was beautiful! I've gone to see plays before, and I always enjoy them, but something about seeing Wicked was different. The Cast was amazing, the pit was absolutely outstanding, as a violin and a flute player, I was never able to completely enjoy plays and musicals like everyone else, because I have the unfortunate ability to tell if an instrument is flat or sharp, and it interrupts my ability to enjoy the play, unlike people who don't notice, and you would be surprised by how often they aren't always on key! I didn't have any of those qualms with Wicked. I laughed, I cried, I sang Defying Gravity with the rest of the people in the audience who knew the words. I enjoyed, every glorious minute of Wicked, I could get my hands on. I laughed at my mother's shock, when Glinda started talking to us in a British accent, I thoroughly enjoyed our BOX SEATS! You read that right, My family and I sat in BOX seats, my mother spoiled us heavily because I don't want even want to contemplate going to see another show unless, there are box seats available. But I know I will, because I love the arts. We even ran into the Wizard while waiting for our ride, and he took a picture with us, I really wish I had him sign my playbill but it was much too windy outside.

Welp, Until Next Time,
Sincerely Yours,
~Spokhette!~
